Since the launch of her successful debut show last year, 'Style in Colour', Susie Stone has been working on a bold and empowering new collection of paintings and prints. We're delighted to bring these to you here on this online showcase of Susie's Spring collection of work to brighten up your walls.
This mini series of work is a direct response to life in lockdown. The subjects convey a sense of individuality and inner strength, raising the importance of fashion and self-identity in such times. In Susie's own words these works are designed to invoke a sense of joy - "seeing a work of art that is colourful, strong and inspiring can give an internal boost and change your mood and midset."
Enjoy viewing this short video of Susie introducing her new work and then browsing the new collection below. All works are for sale: the screenprints are priced unframed, but you can discuss framing options with someone in the Studio at Eames Fine Art if you wish; the paintings are all sold framed and their prices include elegant black tray frames, however there may be a short wait for some of these while they are being made. If you have any questions about the artworks, their framing or delivery, please contact the Eames Fine Art Studio on 0207 407 6561.

'In lockdown I was thinking a lot about the purpose of fashion or style when you can’t leave the house, you have nowhere to go, no one is going to see what you have on... Does it still matter? Ultimately I found personally that it was key to my sense of self to still get dressed in a way that made me happy every day, I still wanted to feel good about the way I looked and it was a way of hanging on to my identity in the chaos of everything else falling apart. I was also interested in the idea of the female gaze and a woman having a sense of empowerment, as so many women were left disempowered in lockdown. So I wanted the women I paint to be holding the viewer’s eye, demanding their attention and having a feeling of strength and resilience in their pose and expression. I chose to be bold and playful with the colours; I made these prints as we were heading into Autumn, evenings were drawing in and things seemed to be becoming more grey. It was important for me to have an internal rebellion against this, with vibrant colour blocks, bold prints and women who were looking forward with attitude and style.'
