Tide-turner, doom-bringer,

You cast your glow on urban angles,

Hang in squares of velvet sky

Framed by lone window panes.

As you light these silent streets

We look skyward, and wonder:

Is this the end of days

Or a fresh start?

Hope, like you, waxes and wanes.

But even when worn thin

To a crescent

There is still some light.
