Anthony Frost

Anthony Frost was born in 1951 in London, England. He studied at the Chelsea School of Art. Frost is associated with the post-war British abstract movement. Influenced by color field painters and abstract expressionists, he employs bold colors and varied materials. His artistic process emphasizes spontaneity and intuition, resulting in textured paintings that engage viewers.

Frost has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally, with works displayed at the Tate Gallery and the Royal Academy. He has participated in major art fairs, such as Frieze London, and has and has lectured at institutions including Falmouth School of Art and Canterbury School of Art.

Frost’s work is characterised by vivid colour palettes and a spontaneous, intuitive process. Using materials such as hessian, sailcloth, and rope, he creates highly tactile paintings that balance structure and freedom. His influences include colour field painting, abstract expressionism, and a lifelong interest in rhythm and music.
