Roantree x Kummattummal | Thin Spaces Deep Time
10 - 24 October 2026

Thin Spaces, Deep Time takes its cue from the idea of “thin places,” often associated with Celtic spirituality: places where the boundary between the visible world and something beyond it feels porous. For us, that can also be a moment when a sound or an image brings the past suddenly close. “Deep time” is the sense that a landscape holds far more history than we can see at once.

The work brings together memories from our childhoods and upbringings, in both the English countryside and on the coast of Kerala, alongside the films, stories and imagined creatures we grew up with. Birds, animals and strange forms appear in landscapes that feel both familiar and slightly displaced, as if different places and times have briefly met.
