Carborundum powder (either coarse or fine) is either mixed with a strong glue or sprinkled over an image on a plate painted in glue. Once the glue and carborundum powder are fully set onto the plate, the surface is then covered in ink and then wiped clean leaving ink only on the textured surface of the carborundum image.  Damp paper is then placed over the plate and they are put through a press to produce the print.  Large editions of carborundum prints are not possible since some of the carborundum powder comes off each time the plate is wiped and printed.
